The Results of the Call
I’ve never been so angry and turned off by such lousy service. I called Dell early in the morning. Managed to get hold of someone. Got transferred to a voicemail. That was a total turn-off. Hung up.
Dialed again. Insisted that I want to talk to someone, not a voicemail. God knows when that person was going to get back to me. This guy answered.
Me: I’ve paid for this laptop and the cheque has been cleared on 29 March. Why is my laptop not here?!
Him: I’m sorry. It’s because we don’t have your payment details. Your laptop is still at our workshop. (Which BTW is in Malaysia)
Me: How come you don’t have the payment details? I want to know what’s going on. The checque has been cleared, so where’s my laptop?
Him: I’m sorry, Miss, but as I mentioned before, we don’t have the bank details.
Me: You don’t have the bank details, here’s the cheque number <my cheque number>. I want the laptop. The payment has been cleared and where is my laptop if the payment has been made?! This is ridiculous!
Him: I think this is the 3rd time (I was incensed and didn’t care how many times he repeated it. LOL), we don’t have the payment details. I can check the bank for you.
Me: Well, I want the update by today. You can call this number <my office number>.
I hung up. Waited for about 15 minutes, well, he better call back within 20 min. If not, another big ruckus will be made. A complaint letter. I had half the heart to send that to the Straits Times too. He applogised for the delay and promised to expedite the sending of the configured laptop. The earlist would be Saturday, after Good Friday. I was like WHAT? The latest would be Monday. That was even worst. I waited for 2 weeks and this is what they tell me. What is going on with their procedure? Take the money and then wait for the customer to complain?
Since there wasn’t any other choice, I called my brother to update him that I had made the call and forced them to check on the status.
It had better be the exact specifications that was sent to them and not a lowered Pentium M 1GHz running on 1GB RAM. It better be Pentium M 1.8GHz with 1GB RAM and DVD/CDRW. Even better would be the DVD writer. They better not miss out the freebies that is to be given either.
